Noodle House by Streets
Description
NOODLE House is the restaurant arm of STREETS International, a nonprofit that trains at-risk youth and single mothers in hospitality skills. The food is the real deal – the ‘flight of noodles’ lets you try three different noodle dishes in one sitting, which is the right way to approach a menu this focused on getting the details right.
Service here is notably attentive, partly because the staff are invested in doing a good job (the training program is the whole point), and partly because people like Trung and Quynh seem to actually enjoy the work. The outdoor seating is solid for people-watching.
Prices are honest but not rock-bottom – add 5% service charge and 8% tax on top of menu prices, and card payment works but involves some friction. Cash makes things easier. They also host private events and cooking classes, so check ahead if you’re making a special trip.
Highlights
- Staff are consistently praised by name, which tells you something about how they're trained
- The social enterprise backstory is real and well-explained by the team, not just a sign on the wall
- Cooking classes available for hands-on types (Bánh Dập is on the menu)
- Can close without much notice for private events - confirm before making it a destination trip
