Tin Tin Restaurant-Bar
Description
A family-run Vietnamese restaurant sitting just outside the old town, which means quieter tables and slightly less foot traffic than the places on Tran Phu. The cao lau and banh xeo are the standout orders – the pork in the cao lau gets specific praise, and the banh xeo holds up well too. The ‘orange chicken’ and pancake (banh xeo, almost certainly) come up repeatedly from people who visited multiple times in the same trip, which says something.
The menu runs Vietnamese staples alongside some Western options, food is cooked fresh to order, and portions are generous for the price. That said, a Japanese reviewer noted the flavors skew spicier and heavier than strictly traditional – the kitchen is clearly calibrating for Western palates. Not a criticism exactly, just worth knowing if you’re chasing hyper-authentic.
Cash only (there’s an ATM nearby, so don’t let that catch you off guard). Service is consistently warm and quick despite the cook-from-fresh approach.
